Residents of Cooktown in far north Queensland were treated to a rare unplanned concert last night, with US pop star Pink performing from the deck of a boat off the town's wharf.
Cook Shire Mayor Peter Scott says the visit was a well-kept secret until yesterday afternoon.
"We got an email from a boat owner saying that there was a celebrity superstar coming to town and putting on a little performance at about nine o'clock down at the wharf," he said.
"We went down to the wharf and then the word got around that it was Pink.
"Lots of kids were down there - in the end there must have been well over 100 to 150 people down on the wharf looking at this boat which was parked about 70 metres off the wharf.
"It started at 9 o'clock with flashing lights, then Pink appeared in a trapeze sort-of show.
"It was like trapeze acrobatics: she was suspended above the deck on a crane on the boat."
